Tai Chi Club in November 2024

Both the hand form class at the Main Library and the sword form class at LSU Hilltop were successful in November, with progress made as planned. Everyone was so deeply engaged in the classes that no one even thought to take a group picture for the month! 😊 Hopefully, we can remember to do so next month to capture and celebrate our group spirit.

To ensure no one is left behind, an additional review class was offered at the end of the month, which was greatly appreciated by participants. As a result, these extra review sessions will continue as long as interest remains strong. For those who missed any outdoor sessions, there will be opportunities to catch up either in person or online. Additionally, the library has kindly offered space availability for 2025, allowing the 24-Movement Tai Chi Routine to be offered year-round. This ensures everyone will have a chance to start, to catch up, to review, and refine their practice.

The Tai Chi Club remained active in the community throughout November. On 11/8/2024, Jie and Shawn volunteered at the 14th New England Wushu Championships. Jie assisted the judges and performed in the group Tai Chi routine during the opening ceremony alongside other world-famous masters and active athletes. Shawn served as the event’s photographer, capturing countless memorable moments.

Jie remains deeply committed to sharing the art of Tai Chi freely with the community. On November 20th, Jie had the privilege of volunteering at a health event at Glasgow Middle School, where she led a Tai Chi and wellness session for all B-day students. For many, it was their first encounter with Tai Chi, but curiosity and enthusiasm was sparked among the students. Seeds of interest were planted, and with continued effort, these seeds can flourish into a lifelong appreciation for wellness and mindfulness.
