Yin and Yang Are Real

A lot of people have heard of Yin and Yang, especially those familiar with Tai Chi. But did you know that Yin and Yang can be real real?

Yes, Yin and Yang are real—at least in my life! They’re two adorable cats who’ve not only walked into our home but have also deeply influenced both my personal life and my Tai Chi journey.

As a Tai Chi practitioner, I often think about the balance of Yin and Yang. However, it wasn’t until July 2023, when we welcomed our second pair of foster kittens, that this concept took on an everyday presence in the most literal (and fluffy) way.

Naming them was a no-brainer—YinYin and YangYang, one black, one white. YangYang, the white one, is active, assertive, and always ready for action—Yang phase of Tai Chi like an explosive punch. YinYin, on the other hand, is quieter, gentler, and embodies Yin phase of Tai Chi like a peaceful stance after a form. The two are inseparable, constantly cuddling, and in true Yin and Yang fashion, they perfectly balance each other out. Their bond is the ultimate demonstration of harmony, a living symbol of Tai Chi right in our home.

Inspired by their connection, my talented husband, Shawn Man, designed the logo for our Tai Chi Club, based on YinYin and YangYang as they slept in sweet harmony.

Happily ever after, they became permanent members of our family—we adopted them, and the adoption was even favorited by Cat Haven.

So, next time you see the Tai Chi Club logo, remember that Yin and Yang aren’t just ancient Chinese philosophy—they’re real !!
