Introduction

The Taiji Fan class kicked off in July of 2025. Tai Chi Fan wasn’t originally part of traditional Tai Chi. However, the fan itself has long been considered a short-range weapon in Chinese martial arts—valued for its elegance, concealment, and expressive movement.

When we replace traditional Tai Chi weapons like the sword and combine Tai Chi movements with fan techniques, we create a form that is both graceful and powerful. The waving of the fan becomes fully integrated into the flow of Tai Chi. The sound of the fan opening and closing adds rhythm, strength, and style to each movement. It’s not only beautiful to watch, but also a great way to train both body and mind.

Our club’s fan routine version 1 was adapted by Tai Chi Club from the first set of Taiji Kungfu Fan and simplified into 24 movements to make it easier to learn. It’s great for health, performance, and competition.

Note: We have proudly incorporate the fan routine into our BREC Mid Autumn show in 2025 and EBRPL Tea Festival Show in 2026.
