Our Classes
Welcome to Tai Chi Club’s Intermediate Classes, where we continue to carry the same mission as all our classes — to make the art of Tai Chi accessible to everyone, regardless of background or experience, at no cost.
Our intermediate classes are designed for practitioners who have developed fundamental Tai Chi skills and are ready to expand their practice through a greater variety of routines. In addition to hand forms, these classes introduce a broader range of traditional Tai Chi weapons
Current intermediate offerings include 24 Movements Taijiquan (Tai Chi Handform), 32 Movements Taijijian (Tai Chi Sword), Simplified 24 Movements Taijishan (Tai Chi Fan) and 38 Movements Taiji Fuchen (Tai Chi Horsetail Whisk). These classes have been or are going to be introduced in the Baton Rouge area to help local practitioners progress in a supportive, structured environment.
The information in the corresponding class tabs was originally designed to help our in-person Tai Chi friends preview, review, and further develop their skills. For those unable to attend in person, our carefully selected demonstration videos, self-produced instructional videos, and back-view follow-along videos can help you learn and practice at your own space and pace.
Enjoy your Tai Chi journey with us, and let’s grow together!

24 Movements Taijiquan
The 24 Movements Taijiquan (Tai Chi Hand Form), officially called Simplified 24 Movements Taijiqun, was developed by a group of Taijiquan masters in China around 1956. It is a standardized and simplified form of Yang Style Taijiquan. Repetitive movements were removed and the sequence of steps was designed in a way to gradually progress from simple to intermediate, then to more challenging. The practice of this routine only take about 4-5 minutes to perform, yet give beginners an introduction to the essential elements of the art of Tai Chi, while retaining the traditional flavor and benefits.

32 Movements Taijijian
The Simplified 32 Movements Taijijian (Tai Chi Sword) form was developed as a standardized and simplified routine based on traditional Yang Style sword techniques in China around 1957. The sequence was designed to gradually introduce practitioners to the key principles of Taijijian, incorporating basic sword movements such as stabs, sweeps, and cuts. This form offers a balanced progression from simple to more complex actions, making it accessible to beginners while still reflecting the elegance and martial applications of traditional swordplay. The entire routine can be performed in about 3-4 minutes, providing a practical introduction to the art of Tai Chi sword.

Simplified Taijishan
The Simplified Taijishan Routine (Tai Chi Fan) is adapted from the 52 Movement Tai Chi Fan routine, with some of the more physically demanding and rigorous movements simplified or removed to create a more accessible learning experience. The routine maintains the graceful and expressive characteristics of Tai Chi fan practice, combining smooth body movements with coordinated opening, closing, and flowing fan techniques. It offers a unique blend of softness and energy, creating a routine that is both enjoyable to practice and visually appealing. The performance time of this routine is approximately 3 minutes. This form is offered to participants looking to explore Tai Chi fan.

38 Movements Taiji Fuchen
The 38 Movement Taiji Fuchen (Tai Chi Horsetail Whisk) is a Tai Chi routine that created by Master Ma Chunxi. The routine combines traditional Tai Chi principles with the unique characteristics of the Fuchen. The routine is known for its flowing movements and expressive techniques. The use of the whisk introduces additional challenges in timing, hand control, and movement synchronization, creating a distinctive practice experience that differs from both hand forms and sword routines. The performance time of this routine is approximately 3 minutes. This form is offered to intermediate-level participants looking to explore additional Tai Chi weapon varieties while further developing their coordination, fluidity, body awareness, and overall movement expression.
